Message From The President

Dear Members and supporters of the 100 club of SETX,

On behalf of the board of the 100 club, and the first responders of Jefferson, Orange and Hardin counties I would like to again thank you for your support of this organization.

100 Club of Southeast Texas President Warren ClaybarOver the last 90 days our nation has seen unprecedented levels of violence targeted against the brave men and women who put their lives on the line to protect our lives, property, and maintain order in our communities. Following the events in Dallas, Baton Rouge and across the country I am now, more than ever, convinced that no community is immune from this type of violence.

In talking with Chiefs from around Southeast Texas about the unprecedented challenge first responders are facing, they are quick to tell me that there has also been an unprecedented amount of support that has been shown to their departments... and they are grateful! From companies bringing lunch to their stations and fire houses, churches providing cookies to officers and fire personnel, and more and more cars with 100 club decals on them... OUR first responders know our community supports and appreciates them.

On September 19th we will be having a golf tournament at Beaumont Country Club to raise money for this organization. Corporate sponsorships are available as are teams if you would like to be part of this event. Tuesday September 20th our annual Corporate Lifetime Members Recognition banquet will be held from 6 to 9pm at the MCM Elegante Hotel in Beaumont.  Mr. William A. Gavin will be our guest speaker. We invite you to support and attend both of these events. For more information or tickets please call 409.658.8918.

Lastly, please help us continue to grow the 100 club of Southeast Texas by spreading the word! If you know a friend who might be interested in supporting SETX first responders send them this newsletter… joining is easy and can be done online… simply click on this link .

Thank you,

Warren Claybar

“On The Alert” Devotional Message & Editorial

“That’s The Ticket” ----- (*) Albert Einstein, the world-renowned physicist, was traveling by train from Princeton.  The conductor came by to check the tickets of each passenger.  When he got to Dr. Einstein, the famous physicist reached in his vest pocket.  He couldn’t find his ticket, so he looked through his trouser pockets.  He looked in his briefcase, then in the seat beside him No ticket.  So the conductor said, “Dr. Einstein, I know who you are.  We all know who you are.  I’m sure you bought a ticket.  Don’t worry about it.”  (*) Proverbs 16:3 Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established . . . . “That’s The Ticket!  It is important to always be aware who our law enforcement and fire fighters are and that these folks work tirelessly to protect us and our communities.  They are committed to their work, and safety is always the first and foremost to make our world a better place.  Thank You Law Enforcement and Fire Fighters!!!!!

We Salute One of Our Own as Hometown Hero

Marie-Richard-100 Club of SETXAs a feature on KFDM TV, in July 2016 Board member Marie Richard became just that, “A Hometown Hero.” The television station feels there are plenty of good people around Southeast Texas and so each month KFDM's James Ware features a different Southeast Texas Hometown Hero.

With the 100 Club of Southeast Texas set up to supply financial relief to first responders' families who lost a loved one in the line of duty, 100 Club Board member and volunteer Marie Richard who has been with the organization since it began almost 28 years ago, was selected as the July Hometown Hero. Marie is described as the backbone of the organization.

News Reporter James Ware with KFDM television station visited Marie Richard who was selected and honored as the Hometown Hero. James discovered Marie to say, “It’s part of me, that’s my life. That’s it. I go around and if I see someone with an out of date decal on their car, I try to get them to understand about renewing their membership. And I’m always making sure everyone understands how important it is to support the 100 Club.”

And as Marie certainly knows and indicates that the 100 club is a part of her life, there is also no doubt that she is the voice of the 100 club. Besides her charming Cajun accent according to 100 Club Board member Don Burnett, “With everything going on in the world and our country and especially as it relates to folks that support law enforcement, and thinking about folks that give to law enforcement, Marie is the perfect example of someone who just gives her heart and soul to an organization that truly is there to support our local law enforcement.”

On behalf of the entire 100 Club Board we wish to thank Marie for all her giving and caring service to the Club, which is just one of the many deserving organizations that she is a part of. Congratulations Marie!
