We Salute One of Our Own as Hometown Hero

Marie-Richard-100 Club of SETXAs a feature on KFDM TV, in July 2016 Board member Marie Richard became just that, “A Hometown Hero.” The television station feels there are plenty of good people around Southeast Texas and so each month KFDM's James Ware features a different Southeast Texas Hometown Hero.

With the 100 Club of Southeast Texas set up to supply financial relief to first responders' families who lost a loved one in the line of duty, 100 Club Board member and volunteer Marie Richard who has been with the organization since it began almost 28 years ago, was selected as the July Hometown Hero. Marie is described as the backbone of the organization.

News Reporter James Ware with KFDM television station visited Marie Richard who was selected and honored as the Hometown Hero. James discovered Marie to say, “It’s part of me, that’s my life. That’s it. I go around and if I see someone with an out of date decal on their car, I try to get them to understand about renewing their membership. And I’m always making sure everyone understands how important it is to support the 100 Club.”

And as Marie certainly knows and indicates that the 100 club is a part of her life, there is also no doubt that she is the voice of the 100 club. Besides her charming Cajun accent according to 100 Club Board member Don Burnett, “With everything going on in the world and our country and especially as it relates to folks that support law enforcement, and thinking about folks that give to law enforcement, Marie is the perfect example of someone who just gives her heart and soul to an organization that truly is there to support our local law enforcement.”

On behalf of the entire 100 Club Board we wish to thank Marie for all her giving and caring service to the Club, which is just one of the many deserving organizations that she is a part of. Congratulations Marie!
